She stole her style from jody whateley. The cut out gloves and lace skirts with leggings under them, all black clothes.

Madonna copies whatever trend she thinks will be hot. It could be something obscure like ray of light songs or something everyone is doing like her 80s songs. She even did rnb in the 90s. She did acid rock, which was hot in the UK where she was living at the time. Her Music album has acid rock songs.

I remember her or a producer telling a story about the first 3 songs they made for her and she didn't like them and went to a popular club in nyc to get that dj to mix them. It was everybody, holiday and some other song. Then she got signed to do a full album. Her going to the club and getting her songs to sound the way they did was because she knew what was popping. She has a good ear for music and uses it, she does appreciate though.
